Before the Session
Before the session I give each senior a basic questionnaire to be completed. This helps me style the session in a way that best expresses who the senior is. It also helps me choose a location that best fits the seniors personality and interests. Some of the more basic questions for example are,
1. What type of music do you listen to?
2. Do you have any talents, if so what are they?
3. Extra curricular actives you are involved in for school or outside of school?
I strive to make each senior feel comfortable during their session, and for them to be able to feel like they are truly being portrayed as themselves helps greatly.
During the Session
I NEVER show up to a session without a smile. You will always be greeted with the brightest smile I have to offer, and the worst jokes you'll ever hear. My jokes may be awful, but they tend to pull out a genuine smile.
There is SOME posing involved, but each pose is based on the answers you give on your questionnaire. With each 'pose' comes flexibility. For example, I may ask you to "sit down" but then add "however you are most comfortable". From there I work with you being comfortable with small adjustments to help better an image. Again, for example, I may straighten your back a bit, point one foot a little more to the left or right, or even something as subtle as shifting your shoulders a few degrees. I promise you will never feel like a statue, or that I'm trying to make you the next greatest contortionist.
For locations, I try to find places that have a verity of scenery. This gives more range in the collection of images you will receive after your session. With this, please expect to do some walking around. Some of the best areas to photograph in, are the ones that are hidden deep within a location. I suggest bringing flip-flops, or some type of slip on shoes if you plan to wear uncomfortable shoes during the photographing portion of your session.
After your Session
After your session please keep a lookout in your email. Following your session I sift though all the images from your session. This is when I take out any that you may have blinked in, sneezed, coughed, or had to swat off a mosquito because we live in South Carolina, am I right? Once I have completed this step, I will edit all the remaining images, this does take time so please be patient. I will be in contact with you though the whole process. When all the remaining images are fully edited, you will get an email with a photo grid of the images (watermarked), which you will then choose from for your final product return. In your final product return, you will be mailed the non-watermarked images you chose from the photo grid from your session. The images will be on a USB with a print release document. Again, patience please. It takes between 2-3 weeks for everything to be finalized and in your hands.
